Stream Temperature Project Launched

The RBAST (Riparian Buffers Affect Stream Temperature) project officially began collecting data on 1 June 2011. Fifteen researchers from twelve institutions across North America are monitoring stream temperatures in a forested stream and a non-forested stream near their home institutions. The main objective is to determine how forested riparian zones affect the stream temperature regime at a range of sites. The group plans to collect data for four months and write up their results within a year. Questions? Look under Projects or contact the project coordinator, Jeff Simmons (simmons@msmary.edu).
