MEFA: Exploring Macrosystems Ecology with Guest Speaker Dr. Tamara Harms

Thanks to everyone who joined us for this virtual event on January 24, 2024.
If you were unable to join us, the recording is shared below.

A virtual event with members of the Macrosystems Ecology For All (MEFA) Research Coordination Network (funded by NSF) and guest speaker Dr. Tamara Harms discussing her research on “Streams and watersheds in a macrosystems context,” followed by a breakout session for brainstorming what it might take to integrate macrosystems ecology concepts into your research and teaching.

GUEST SPEAKER

Dr. Tamara Harms (University of California at Riverside)

Tamara is an ecosystem ecologist and biogeochemist interested in the effects of spatial heterogeneity and hydrologic flowpaths on elemental cycles. She has studied desert riparian zones and streams, urban ecosystems, and boreal and arctic catchments. Current foci include: biogeochemical indicators of ecosystem resilience; responses of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycles to permafrost thaw; and influences of fire and hydrologic regimes on desert streams.
