EREN joined forces with Dr. Jessica Mitchell for a workshop at Appalachian State University on July 11-13, 2018. Together, with support from the NSF Macrosystems Program, we explored using NEON data to calculate plant biodiversity metrics and developed a lesson plan for a lab exercise for undergraduate students focused on measuring biodiversity across scales and interactions between ground-based biodiversity metrics and remote sensing data. A second workshop focused more extensively on remote sensing is planned for 2019.
