Meetings and Workshops

Thank you to all who attended our virtual EREN Community Event on February 3, 2023

On February 3, 2023, we gathered virtually to share news about emerging EREN initiatives and to spread the word about active EREN projects.

Feel free to review the recording (below, at right) or the slides from that meeting, and reach out to project leaders with any questions. See you at the next one!

EREN All-member Meetings

We anticipate new opportunities for EREN members to gather in the near future. Past meetings were held in Raleigh, NC, San Antonio, TX, Rock Island, IL, Elizabethtown, PA, and Delaware, OH.

EREN-NEON-EDDIE Workshops

EREN is partnering with project EDDIE (Environmental Data-Driven Inquiry and Exploration) and NEON (National Ecological Observation Network) to offer a series of workshops designed to build a collaborative community of educators and researchers who want to explore new approaches, tools and datasets for their classrooms and research labs that combine the EREN project model with NEON data and EDDIE techniques for teaching data science.

Our virtual workshop in July 2021 led to the formation of approximately 10 working groups, each of which met throughout the 2021-2022 academic year to develop new EREN research projects. In June 2022, project leaders from many of these working groups met at Belmont University for a 3-day intensive to develop proposals for the emerging projects. We anticipate a call for EREN members to participate in many of these new projects by Fall 2022.

EREN at ESA

EREN often hosts social events and organized sessions/symposia at the annual meetings of the Ecological Society of America.

Most recently, EREN members gathered for a patio social during ESA 2022 in Montréal, QC.
