EREN STEAM

Welcome to EREN STEAM!

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) integrates the arts and humanities with the natural sciences and emphasizes analytical thinking and problem-solving, as well as collaboration, creativity, and communication. These skills are essential for designing and participating in EREN’s collaborative research projects and are traits we want to foster in our community and undergraduate classrooms.

WATERCOLORS

Watercolors inspired by subjects of field research by Jennifer Purrenhage (aka Dr. Jennifer Purrenhage, EREN Board Member, EREN Web Manager)

POETRY

Poetry by Laurel Anderson (aka Dr. Laurie Anderson, President of the EREN Board of Directors, Chair of the Network Management Team for MEFA)

FIELD NOTES

Observations and sketches from EREN faculty and students. Field notes naturally integrate art and creativity into science education.

This EREN STEAM gallery is intended to celebrate the artistic endeavors of our community, to highlight the ways in which art deepens our connections to the natural and non-human world, and to draw attention to pedagogy that embraces STEAM. We hope you find enjoyment and inspiration in these drawings, paintings, photographs, poems, stories, essays, and other creative works, and useful STEAM education examples in the pedagogical exercises. Perhaps these works will spark ideas that you will share with us in the future. Please review our Submission Guidelines.
